Highlight - PNGSDP hand over reforestation project to communities

The Community Reforestation Project in Kompri valley in Eastern Highlands has been officially handed over to the local communities by the donor and project facilitator. The official ceremony was staged at Saviza in Kompri and witnessed by communities and representatives from both the donor and project facilitator.
The project was funded by Papua New Guinea Sustainable Development Project (PNGSDP) and managed by Research & Conservation Foundation under its Conservation Education Program. Mr Lawrence Stephens manager of Community Sustainable Development program from PNGSDP who was the guest of honor officially handed over the project to the local communities to manage and continue. More than thirty seven thousand tree seedlings have been planted within ten villages under the project. PNGSDP was impressed with the overall implementation of the project and pledge to continue such project in the future.
